Emory’s Hope Clinic takes 12,000 SF at Winn Medical Center

Atlanta, December 12, 2012 – Ackerman & Co. signs its biggest deal to date at newly acquired Winn Medical Center in Decatur. The Hope Clinic of the Emory Vaccine Center, which conducts clinical trials aimed at developing safe and effective vaccines to prevent major global infectious diseases, has leased 12,000 square feet of medical office space at Winn Medical’s 500 Building, taking up the entire second floor and a portion of the first floor. Adam Butler, vice president of leasing at Ackerman, represented the landlord on the 11-year deal. Joseph Grace, a principal with Cresa Partners, represented the tenant.

This new space allows the Hope Clinic to expand and consolidate multiple locations. “There were few options to accommodate 12,000 square feet of contiguous medical office space in the Downtown Decatur area,” said Adam. “This location proved ideal, especially since many of the Clinic’s staff are already in the area,” he added.

Ackerman acquired the four medical office buildings (Winn Medical Center) totaling 65,000 rentable square feet in March 2012. The complex sits directly across from Dekalb Medical, a prominent hospital system that services the majority of Decatur-area residents.

To date, Adam, the local point of contact and leasing agent for Winn Medical Center, has completed the following new deals: Capstone Primary Care – 2,100 square feet; Sleepworks – 1,100 square feet; North Georgia Medical Transport – 1,500 square feet; and Pediaspeech – 1,500 square feet. He has also renewed long-term tenant, Sovereign Rehabilitation, for 2,537 square feet.
