Ackerman & Co. Inks Two Private Schools

Ackerman & Co. has secured new locations for two notable private schools in the metroAtlanta area.

The DeKalb Academy of Technology & Environment (D.A.T.E. Academy) has leased 39,000 square feet at 1492 Kelton Drive, a 39,000-square-foot office building in Stone Mountain, for six years.

Josh Gregory, Vice President, and Brian Merman, Associate, both with Ackerman & Co. represented the landlord in the transaction, PropCo Kelton whose Principal is Harris Tessler, also a Senior Vice President at Ackerman & Co.  Janelle Coutain with Coutain & Associates represented D.A.T.E. Academy.

Ackerman’s Vice President Chitra Subbarayan and Neil Steakley, Associate, also represented Little Da Vinci International School, a nonprofit preschool, in its 4,000-square-foot lease at 4055 Roswell Road, a 10,000-square-foot boutique office building owned by the City of Atlanta in the Blue Heron Nature Preserve.

“The Blue Heron Nature Preserve is an ideal location for our school – a protected environment that encourages our children to explore and indulge in their curiosity,” said Soraya Rouchdi, the Executive Director of the school.  “We’re excited to have this opportunity and to have worked with a sub-landlord like the Blue Heron Nature Preserve, which shared in the excitement of our vision.”  Nancy Jones, Executive Director of the nature preserve was instrumental in bringing together compatible uses to preserve the integrity of the center.  The other tenant in the Center is the National Audubon Society.
